FONTHILL CASTLE & MERCEL MUSEUM

The unusual Fonthill Castle was built in 1908 by American artefact collector and tile maker Henry Chapman Mercer.
The castle has 44 rooms, more than 200 windows, 18 fireplaces, 10 bathrooms and a powder room. The interior is a spitting image of his peculiar world, his eccentricity and his obsession with collecting, there is an extensive collection of ceramics embedded in the walls among other rarities and antiques.
