Imperial Bees
Imperial bees are the symbol of the Napoleonic period.
On the day of his investiture as Emperor, Napoleon wore on his shoulders a purple cloak covered with Russian ermine and gold bees.
The purple imperial robe used at the coronation measured 22 m2 and weighed 40 kg, and was embossed with gold bees and embroidered with olive, laurel, and oak branches.
Objects for personal use were also adorned or decorated with bees.
